"Daughters" of Alexander Vertinsky: touching paternal declaration of love.
    I got angels
Wound up in broad daylight.
Everything I once laughed at
Everything now delights me!

I lived noisy and fun, I repent
But the wife took everything in her hands
Absolutely ignoring me
She gave birth to two daughters for me.

I was against it. The diapers will begin ...
Why complicate your life?
But they crawled into my heart girls
Like kittens into someone else's bed!

And now with a new meaning and purpose
I, like a bird, twist my nest
And sometimes over their cradle
I myself sing in surprise:

Daughters, daughters,
My daughters!
Where are you, my little nights
Where are you, nightingales? ..

A lot of Russian sun and light
Will be in the life of my little daughters.
And most importantly, it’s
That the homeland will be with them!

There will be a house. There will be many toys.
We’ll hang a star on the Christmas tree.
I'm some kind old ladies
Especially for them I will get.

To Russian songs they sang,
To weave fairy tales at night
To rustle quietly years
So that they could not forget childhood.

True, I’ll age a little,
But the soul will be young, as they are!
And I will ask for a good God,
To extend my sinful days.

Daughters will grow up
My daughters ...
They will have nights
There will be nightingales!

And close the daughters
My very,
I will sing in the cemetery
The same nightingales!

In 1940, in the life of the then-famous singer, composer and expatriate artist Alexander Vertinsky, the main meeting, perhaps in his life, took place that changed his life drastically - he met the love of his life, which gave him two wonderful daughters.

After a long post-revolutionary ordeal in the USA and Europe, after two refusals by the Soviet government to request a return to their homeland, Alexander Nikolaevich finds himself in Shanghai. There he met the 17-year-old Lydia Tsirgava. He met and passionately fell in love with a girl. But, as Lidia Nikolaevna herself recalled, her parents were categorically against these meetings, because Vertinsky was 34 years older than their daughter, and he wrote her passionate letters.

“... All this is too wonderful to be true. ... Where to put this great joy, this incomprehensible and only happiness? Do I believe in him? You are still so young. Perhaps in a week you will forget about me? And with a light step, like a dream, like a dream, a long-legged, green-eyed girl came into my life, calmly and confidently (then, in the Renaissance bar), and took my hand and said: You are mine! I was scared, but I believed. And immediately everything else became unnecessary and uninteresting. Is it true? Maybe I wake up, and all this turns out to be a dream? Think about it one more time! One thing I know for sure - if you ever became my wife - it would be such a huge happiness that my tired heart probably could not stand ...
P.S. Swear to me that you will never exchange me for anyone, and that you will wait for me to the end! ”

May 26, 1942 Lydia Tsirgava became the wife of Vertinsky. A year later, they had a daughter, Marianne. Vertinsky gives two concerts a day to feed his family, but after the invasion of Japanese troops in China, money is sorely lacking. Alexander Nikolaevich was forced to turn in his concert coat to a pawnshop. Before each performance, he bought out the tailcoat, and after the concert he handed over again.

In 1943, Vertinsky wrote a letter addressed to Molotov asking him to allow him to return to the USSR. This was the third attempt. And this time permission was obtained. In the fall, the artist with his wife and 3-month-old daughter arrived in Moscow. A year later, the second daughter appears in the family - Anastasia.

Vertinsky adored his girls immeasurably. Vertinsky devoted both girls to one of his most famous songs of that period - “Daughters”.

It is worth noting that when one of the spouses is much older than the other, it is not so rare. After all, love knows no barriers.
