Small road business: a real story

year 2009. Two comrades graduated from the university with a degree in construction. Began to think where to apply the knowledge gained. As a result, we decided to open own business... First, it is not easy for young professionals to find a job with a decent salary. Secondly, the income from your business depends only on you.

The field of activity was determined initially - budgetary sphere... This guarantees relative stability, which is important for aspiring entrepreneurs. Even in a crisis the state invests money in the maintenance of infrastructure, in particular in the road sector, housing and communal services. In the chosen direction, I was interested, first of all, in construction related to state and municipal orders.

Comrades come from a small village. There they decided to organize a business. Met with head of the municipal settlement, discussed issues of landscaping, as well as the possibility of participating in tenders for housing and communal services. It turned out that the volume of work, especially for the repair of the adjoining plots, is huge and the state allocates money for this through quotations. Problem was that the purchase of materials and subsequent work had to be carried out through intermediaries, and this is expensive. Local contractors were required. The proposal of two comrades turned out to be very welcome.

We decided to start small: patching of asphalt, repair of blind areas, improvement. They calculated everything and came to the conclusion: it is better to make asphalt on your own. Despite the fact that the village has asphalt plant, a branch of a regional road company, it was not profitable to buy a finished product from him. The fact is that in the absence of competition, the plant became monopolist... Local municipalities were forced to buy asphalt from him at exorbitant prices, since they did not have their own opportunities for its production.

It would seem, without serious investment making asphalt by ourselves is not realistic. However, the comrades found a way out. After examining the market, they found used asphalt reclaimer... That is, she produced a new one from an old one. The latter, by the way, turned out to be more than enough: the detached canvas of the adjoining territories, laid back in Soviet times; mountains of asphalt crumbs removed by road workers before road repairs. All this free raw material could and should have been recycled.

Principle asphalt reclamation is simple. Old asphalt or asphalt chips are mixed in the tank and heated to a certain temperature. Bitumen is added, but in smaller quantities than in the manufacture of new asphalt. The result is an asphalt mix of limited use. That is, she ideally suitable, for example, for making blind areas, patching, but not for loaded areas. Another advantage is that you do not need to buy crushed stone and sand, and less bitumen is used.

By the way, young entrepreneurs approached the choice of an asphalt concrete plant very seriously. Apparatus found autonomous, that is, on a wheelbase and with a built-in generator with the ability to hook it to the car. This ensures it mobility: free movement and getting rid of the search for the source of electricity. Plus, the rig was equipped with container for heating, melting and maintaining a constant temperature of the asphalt mixture, which is not unimportant. It is very expensive to buy a container for bitumen separately. It is long and inconvenient to heat it in barrels on the spot.

In general, with bitumen the companions were in serious trouble. You cannot buy it in small volumes, since no one will bring bitumen for little money. However, an alternative option was found - briquetted bitumen BND 90/130... It is sold not in barrels, but in briquettes. In a company that deals with such a product, it can be purchased for little money.

And so, the raw materials were practically free, options for suitable equipment were found. Now it was necessary to find funds for this project. The total cost of all equipment was estimated at 1 million rubles... The beginning village businessmen, of course, did not have that kind of money. The state helped. Comrades became participants entrepreneurship support programs... In cooperation with the employment service, it was possible to quickly make all the necessary documents. Moreover, everyone has prepared their own business plan. This little trick succeeded. Both received subsidies for 58 800 rubles... In total, we managed to get about 120,000 rubles.

As part of the program of future employees of an opening business state initially provided wages in the amount of 58,800 rubles. True, only three people. The comrades immediately hired their relatives. Thus, it was possible to attract investments for almost 500,000 rubles.

However, these funds have not yet been sufficient. Entrepreneurs turned to regional guarantee fund... Having prepared the necessary documents and fulfilling all the conditions of the fund, we managed to get more 200,000 rubles with a minimum interest and without material security for the loan. By the way, they offered more, but the comrades felt that they needed as much money as needed to start.

Having collected money, they turned to leasing company, which could carry out the delivery of the previously selected equipment. You could get it by contributing only 30% of its cost. Having mastered 300,000 rubles, the entrepreneurs still have 400,000 rubles left as a "safety cushion".

Of course, the purchased equipment was far from new. Low performance- about 3-5 tons per hour. However, his resources were sufficient to get started. In addition, the specialists of the supplier company gave comprehensive information about all its advantages and disadvantages. Before starting operation, the comrades additionally entered into an agreement with instrumentation engineer... He, not being a full-time employee of the new enterprise, was supposed to provide consulting assistance on the operation of the equipment.

The head of the district supported the young entrepreneurs. So were received first orders... At first, a lot had to be done by hand, there was not enough equipment. However, gradually things went uphill. Rollers, jackhammers, and compressors were purchased. We began to work not only with individuals, but also with management companies, budgetary organizations. Began to grow staff.

Gradually, thoughts appeared about the transition to a new stage in the development of the case. Looked after small asphalt plant worth 6.5 million rubles. Its productivity made it possible to deal not only with patching, but also to lay a continuous asphalt road.

I would like to note that success this small business became possible not only thanks to original idea and the approach to its implementation. It seems that the main factor was actually working regional programs support for aspiring entrepreneurs.
