  How to spin an atelier. How it works: how much an atelier for tailoring and repairing clothes brings

Marketing for an atelier or sewing enterprise. Promotion of services.

Epigraph: "To dress the Russians, it is necessary to sew with Italian quality and Chinese prices."

Sewing to order is fashionable and prestigious, but not everyone can afford the services of an elite atelier. Let's look at the work of thread and needle professionals from a small business perspective. Can a good dressmaker have her own studio today? Experts doubt it. Today, creating exclusive clothes is more expensive than a profitable business, experts say light industry.

Atelier attendance
  The most sensitive period is New Year's Eve. On average, daily attendance is 5-10 people. The minimum flow of customers necessary for the studio to work a month at zero, 5 people a day - an expert assessment.

Studio Place
Atelier, which will be engaged in both sewing and repairing clothes, it is better to open as close to the city center as possible, advised by interviewed experts. Firstly, there are concentrated stores selling fabrics. The traditional place for the studio is the first floor of a residential building. It has also been recently noticed that tailoring and repair ateliers open in shopping centers with high traffic. Clothing stores are concentrated there, which means that there will be a high demand for fitting and repair services.

Atelier business problems
  1. The high cost of production. Dear work. Dear stuff.
  2 Strong competition from imported dresses by large manufacturers
  3 Very small secondary sales. The customer is always new. A new client needs to spend more energy.
  4 The systemic crisis of light industry in Russia. Lack of fashion industry and real modeling business.
  5 Lack of culture of secular and evening life. Few places and events for displaying dresses.

Market situation
Russia's light industry is undergoing a deep structural crisis, despite rising consumption and increased demand for its services. Fashion in Russia is sandwiched between two fires - between China and Italy. If the client does not have money, he takes cheaper goods produced in Belarus, Ukraine, China, Turkey, if he has money, he buys Italy, or quality finished brands from Europe.

Pressure on private ateliers has intensified in recent years. We list the reasons
  First reason. The construction of large shopping centers has led to the expansion of high-quality European brands of ready-made dresses to the market. According to market operators, in the past few years, demand for tailoring has fallen - the market is full of finished products.

The second reason. From year to year, the flow of Russians who travel abroad is increasing. In Europe, quality clothing is cheaper than in Russia, and Russians dress there. Russia's accession to the WTO is coming - this will lead to a drop in clothing prices.

The third reason. Large domestic enterprises of light industry are taking their feet and new fashion designers are appearing. If 5 years ago, apart from Yudashkin, no one was known, now the names of young designers have increased. They invest in their promotion at the federal level. They are better and more advertised than a small provincial atelier.

How do the ateliers adapt to this situation?
  They begin to trade imported dress themselves.
  They open small outlets in Shopping centers for fitting purchased products, and for one they advertise their services.
  Ateliers are looking for specialization: fur coats, knitwear or curtains.

Atelier problems:
  High staff costs
  High rental costs.
  Dependence on the flow of customers and the number of orders.

Private studio of Irina Lapina has a crisis on hand - more and more clothes are being rented out for repair. Her company helps out 230 thousand rubles. sewing dresses and suits a month provides only a third of the income

Vologzhanka Irina Lapina from childhood loved to sew, so after school she went to study as a seamstress in a local vocational school. Until 2011, she worked in a city studio, while her husband did not offer to start his own business. For starting 100 thousand rubles. I managed to buy a professional sewing machine, cutting table, overlock, mannequin, equipment for a fitting room and rent a small room of 10 square meters. m (at a rate of 1.2 thousand rubles per 1 sq. m per month).

Base of brides

Already during her studies, Lapina worked part-time at home, mainly by sewing wedding dresses, so she had a small client base. She began to attract new customers through the VKontakte group and with the help of ads on residential buildings (the Iris studio still has no website). “We walked with a small child in a carriage in the evenings and pasted them at the porches,” the entrepreneur recalls.

From the very beginning, Iris offered two types of services - tailoring of a finished dress (suit) and clothing repair. “Since we were in a residential area, the repair of clothes was very relevant,” recalls Lapina. “We shortened trousers, carried out repairs of fur products, repaired zippers and much more.” There were many orders, and Lapina invited her classmate to work.

For the first year of work at Iris, 50 dresses were sewn at a price of 2-2.5 thousand rubles. per item. “I had a very low price tag for the city,” admits Lapina. “I made a present for ordering a wedding dress - I released two pigeons: it was pleasant for the clients.” To promote her services, Irina Lapina participated in city exhibitions, wedding festivals, advertised in local magazines. We did not need money for working capital: clients who wanted to sew a dress either came with ready-made fabric or chose it together with a seamstress.

In 2012, Lapina expanded its business by renting a new building of 20 square meters. m in the city center and hiring another employee. Thanks to the move, new clients came to Lapina - corporate customers - restaurants and dance groups. “We began to sew dance costumes, cook uniforms, tablecloths, and repair bags for delivering sushi and rolls,” the entrepreneur says. New customers began to bring the studio an additional about 30 thousand rubles. revenue per month, and at the end of the year, Iris earned the first million. In 2013, revenue reached 1.7 million rubles, in 2014 increased to 2.6 million rubles, and it remained approximately the same in 2015.

The sewing business has its own seasonality, says Lapina. From the middle of spring, the wedding period begins, wedding dresses for brides, dresses for bridesmaids, suits for grooms are actively sewn. Then closer to September there are orders for sewing school uniforms. “Many Vologda schools require that one class have a uniform from one fabric,” Lapina explains. “Parents buy fabric for the whole class, and then everyone chooses a place to sew the form.” Since October, women have been applying for evening dresses for the New Year holidays, so Iris is scheduled for December. More than half of Iris’s customers are regular because they apply for various services regularly, says Lapina, she knows many in person and by name.

Sewing economy

The crisis affected customers' preferences: until 2016, the atelier lived mainly on corporate orders, and now people went to repair clothes. “The flow of customers for repairs is such that we can’t cope, everything is scheduled for five days in advance,” says Lapina. INIn 2015, the repair brought "Iris" about 150 thousand rubles. monthly. Sewing clothes on an individual order gives another about 50 thousand rubles. revenue per month, corporate customers - about 30 thousand rubles.

The average check for clothing repair is 350 rubles. Replacing zippers and hemming trousers cost 200 rubles, but there are more expensive types of repairs: shortening a fur coat will cost 2 thousand rubles, and completely redrawing the fur product will cost 5 thousand rubles. The cost (together with the material) of tailoring an evening dress is 3-4 thousand rubles., Wedding - 8-9 thousand rubles., Men's suit - up to 15 thousand rubles. It can take up to three weeks to work on expensive dresses and it will take two or three fittings. Dance costumes are sewn per day and cost an average of about 1 thousand rubles.

Irina Lapina does all the work of taking measurements, preparing patterns, and four employees of the atelier sew dresses themselves. “I do not hire an additional employee for this, because I do not trust strangers and cannot delegate authority,” the entrepreneur explains. “I don’t think that there are no irreplaceable people, but I don’t shift my duties, so now it’s hard for me, I want to relax, but there’s no time.

The cost of production is about half the revenue of the studio. For rent 40 sq. m (in 2015, the studio moved again, increasing the area) Lapina pays 20 thousand rubles. per month. About 86 thousand rubles are spent on the remuneration of four employees. per month (the average salary in the studio is 15 thousand rubles). There is no staff turnover, says Lapina: “We have a friendly team, we like to celebrate holidays together. The girls are all young, come from the region, we have a very warm relationship. ”

Iris spends an average of 17.5 thousand rubles on promoting its services. per month. “We advertise in glossy magazines, participate in fashion shows,” says Lapina. “We are promoting the repair services, as before, using leaflets.” True, now they are not carried by the entrepreneur herself, but by her nephew. “With leaflets, the effect is immediately noticeable: in the morning they went out, and within two or three days the people went with orders for repairs,” she shares her experience. “The VKontakte group is actively working, where we hold promotions and contests.” 5-6 thousand rubles are spent on the purchase of sewing accessories, utility bills. per month. “Iris” works under the simplified taxation system (STS) - “income minus expenses”, paying about 15 thousand rubles a month.

School and shop

In 2015, Irina Lapina expanded her field of activity: in September she opened a school of sewing craftsmanship, recruiting her first students through the VKontakte group. Investments for the launch were not required, since it operates on the basis of existing production. “At 18 o’clock my employees leave work, and until 21 o’clock almost every day I teach courses for a group of four,” says Lapina.

The cost of seven-day courses (three hours a day) is 2.5 thousand rubles. For half a year, about 100 people studied with Lapina. On weekends, she holds one-day workshops worth 500 rubles each. per person. In March, the courses brought Lapina about 40 thousand rubles. income.

Lapina also opened a fabric store, investing 80 thousand rubles. in the purchase of the first batch of goods and in the equipment of walls with special racks. The entrepreneur buys fabrics to her taste, and so far, according to her, the choice is developing successfully. The main range is knitted and cotton fabrics for dresses, synthetics for dance costumes, lace in season for wedding dresses from Turkey and South Korea. “Atelier shop is very profitable because there is a constant flow of customers,” says Lapina. She gradually expands the assortment in the store, investing in it all the current revenue from the sale of fabrics (about 60 thousand rubles per month). “I really love fabrics, I’m ready to go for hours, feel and examine everything, so I want a separate large room for the store,” Lapina shares her plans. For the school, she also intends to rent a separate room, since many students want to come to the courses in the afternoon, and not in the late evening.

According to the entrepreneur, there are a lot of different ateliers in Vologda, even three similar companies are located right next to Iris. “We mainly charge a low price, because I think it's better to bet on turnover than on raising prices,” Lapina says. “There are companies in Vologda that sew wedding dresses for 20-30 thousand rubles as well.” Nevertheless, she closely monitors the activity of competitors, noting which of her clients went to her rivals. “Our people in Vologda are simple, if they say that someone made a cool dress, then people will go to him only because they said so,” Lapina says. “They’ll try to sew, and then come back.”

As for any enterprise, it is necessary for an atelier   advertising. So far, only you know that a new studio has opened. The main purpose of advertising is to declare oneself and attract attention.

The first thing to do is give the name of the studio. In no case, it should not be the same or similar to the name of another studio in your city. Make a sign. But at the initial stage, you can get by with a pillar that will attract people passing by.

A good location with great traffic combined with a good sign will ensure a good flow of customers. Almost 50% of customers according to statistics learn about the studio only thanks to the sign above the entrance.

But this should not be limited. It is necessary to post information about the studio in all kinds of city reference systems - printed (newspapers, magazines), telephone information centers of the city, to have a page or website on the Internet. This is where potential customers inquire about the studio.

The Internet is currently occupying more and more space, almost every family has a computer and people spend 2-3 hours of their free time there. At the very beginning of the sewing business, there is not enough money for everything, including advertising.

  (anyone interested)

Place up to 25 goods and services. Use necessarily! Over time, you can order your own original website.

Experience shows that the main customers of the studio are people from nearby areas. therefore studio advertising   must be targeted, covering the territory, approximately within a radius of a kilometer from the studio. Posting ads in the hallways and sending out flyers to mailboxes gives a good return.

From the experience of a working studio.

Another type of low-cost, in my opinion, advertising is notifying clients via SMS messages (when filling out a receipt, I always take the client’s phone number, and if there are any changes, for example, a new type of service, I inform you about it). The client is pleased that he is remembered by him, it is profitable for me.

And also, if it will be useful to someone.

With the inevitable increase in prices, you have to lose some customers, which, of course, is undesirable. But the clients have different possibilities and it is necessary to take this into account so that situations are not created when you, having raised prices, do not know who to regret: a client who, you know, cannot afford it, or yourself who cannot afford cheap services. We have to send to other workshops, which means - say goodbye to this visitor.

Therefore, a system of differentiated prices (tariffs) was introduced in my workshop. (Although, as you know, our price is negotiable).

I will give an example.

Trouser hem. It can be done in different ways: with braid and without, secret and with a cobweb (against which I categorically!). But sometimes the client doesn’t care - if only cheaper. It is necessary to explain how one price differs from another, and the next time he will probably choose a different price and a different quality.

Bending the bottom of the product is generally a responsible operation, the appearance of the entire product depends on its quality, but for some reason it is most often assigned to students. So the student’s work should be evaluated differently than the masters.

I wish you success in your hard work!

Multi-colored dresses and sundresses, light windbreakers and jackets with fur, children's suits and pajamas with appliqués, which are just not available in modern stores and shopping centers. But even with such an abundance, there will always be those who want to sew a dress or costume on order, especially since the price / quality ratio today leaves much to be desired, since either inexpensive goods from China are sold on the market or the prices of clothes are unreasonably high. Finding a really high-quality and stylish thing is not so simple. It is even more difficult to choose clothes for a person with a non-standard figure. Therefore, a sewing atelier remains relevant in small cities and megacities. Another thing is that only true professionals who not only have a concept of sewing, but know all the secrets and nuances of sewing, can run this business.

Sewing business: where to start

You need to start by studying the market and identifying the services that the studio can provide. If there is an establishment nearby that sews clothes for women, it might be worth opening an atelier for men. Or include in the list services that competitors do not provide. The more services - the more customers you can attract in a short period of time.

Here is a sample list of services for customers;

  •   custom tailoring;
  •   copying models of famous designers;
  •   design and tailoring of evening dresses;
  •   repair of old things.

The list can be shortened or expanded, depending on the capabilities and desires of the entrepreneur, but it is worth considering it carefully before starting to draw up a business plan for a sewing studio

How to choose and arrange a room

A small studio in your apartment, but it is preferable to immediately rent a room. For this, squares in shopping centers or the first floors of houses in sleeping areas are suitable. Consider the pros and cons of such a lease.

In shopping centers

  •   high traffic therefore it is easier to attract customers
  •   Buyers who need to take in or shorten the thing they just purchased can apply.
  •   there is security.

In living quarters

  •   difficulties in attracting customers;
  •   additional security or alarm costs;
  •   difficulty finding an atelier, despite signs and signs.

For an atelier, an area of \u200b\u200bat least 25 square meters is suitable. m., and it should accommodate a room for receiving visitors, a fitting room and a room for work at the rate of 7 square meters. m. per person.

What documents are needed

To conduct legitimate activities, you need to draw up all the documents. First of all, you should register as an individual entrepreneur and indicate OKVED 93.5 “Provision of other. personal services to the population "

Depending on the services provided, you need to select, for example, OKVED code 18.22 for the production of outerwear or OKVED code 52.74 “Repair of household goods and personal items not included in other groups”.

After that, you need to obtain permits from the SES and the State Fire Supervision Agency.

What equipment is required

  For a small studio you need a minimal set of equipment
  •   sewing machines - 3
  •   cutting table - 1
  •   overlock - 1
  •   mannequin -1
  •   iron - 2
  •   ironing board -1
  •   rack -1

Everything will require from 75 thousand rubles. You also need to turn on the lamps, patterns, scissors, needles, threads, zippers, buttons. That is, another 30 thousand rubles will be required. Furniture for the visitor’s room - 25 thousand rubles.

How to find qualified staff

Many owners of prestigious ateliers employ only employees with at least 3 years of experience. Although in some cases they accept graduates of vocational schools who are trained specifically to work in their institution. The main thing that you need to pay attention to when taking seamstresses is the accuracy of the seams and cutters so that the fabric does not “move” in the first minutes.

For a start, 1 cutter and 2-3 seamstresses, which can receive from 30 to 40% of the order and 1 cleaner, will be enough. It is likely that other employees will agree to perform the cleaning functions.

How to attract customers

The main thing for a service business is customer acquisition. An advertising campaign, of course, is needed. But for a small studio there is no point in wasting money on serious advertising. Enough posts in social networks, bright signs and signs. It is likely to get good customers through paid advertising on the Internet.

Atelier promotion is also possible thanks to special “tricks”, for example: leaving the cutter at home, purchasing fabrics, sewing on credit, etc.

You can also talk with sellers at nearby stores who are interested in selling as many things as possible. They can reassure and send customers to you who need to sew or hem a thing.

How much does it cost to open an atelier in 2017: profitability

Depending on the city, the location of the studio, the cost of materials and equipment, the cost of opening the studio can be different. If you include the repair of premises, the purchase of equipment, paperwork, advertising, you should count on an amount of 180 thousand rubles. Each month you will have to spend money on taxes, employee salaries, rent, purchase of consumables, depreciation.

Earnings will depend largely on the number of services provided. Sometimes it’s likely to earn at least, and even more than on orders, on repairs and “fitting” things.

With the schedule of the studio from 10 to 20, you can take a day as 15 orders from 200 to 500 rubles, and 5 orders of 1,500 rubles and above. But, to put a patch, for example, it will take 3 hours, and to sew a dress - at least 3 days. A good studio can receive an average of 20-25 orders for sewing clothes and 200-250 for repairs. Earnings per month can be from 70 thousand rubles, while net income will be 30-35%.

Costs, as a rule, pay off for the period from 3 months to a year, and if you wish, you can think about expanding the business or include new “chips”.

It’s nice to open a franchise studio. We can offer several options.

  • “IMPERO exclusivemanufacture” - men's clothing atelier-shop - 350 thousand rubles.
  • “Agile weaver” - a network of atelier for urgent repair of clothes - 100 thousand rubles
  • “Calabrio” - a network of stores for individual sewing of business suits - 274 thousand rubles.

Although there will be more costs, the promotion of the enterprise is not required. You can choose any option. The main thing is that sewing ateliers are in demand and their services are in demand.

Atelier is a female business, which is quite simple to organize with minimal investment. As in many other areas of activity, the core of success is staff skill and location.

Atelier - a business that is quite simple to organize, and which is considered a female occupation. You can open your studio with minimal cost and in a short time. If you know how to sew and dream of opening a mini-business, then the idea of \u200b\u200ban atelier will suit you.

Market Review. The relevance of the studio as a business

In the sphere of consumer services, which include studio services, there has been a recent increase in demand. According to statistics, each year the studio opens twice as much as it closes. Annual growth in this area is about 10%. Even in times of crisis, atelier services are in demand, because people begin to save on clothes and more often go to the atelier for repair services.

The two main services of the studio are sewing and repairing clothes. In the past few years, demand for tailoring has declined - the market is filled with finished products, which, moreover, are often cheaper than sewn by individual standards. The situation with modern light industry is known to everyone: the overproduction of inexpensive and low-quality Chinese clothing has “corrupted” the taste and culture of the consumer. He had lost the habit of repairing his dress, generally loving it, respecting and treating it with care. The consumer has long been accustomed to throwing tons into the nearest garbage bin, immediately buying a ton of a new one, “from the latest collection”. Therefore, today, people who need the finalization of clothing - shorten trousers, fit the figure, etc., turn to the services of a seamstress more often. That is why clothing repair centers began to open actively in shopping centers.

Thousands of ideas for quick money. All the world experience in your pocket ..

Atelier can be divided into two categories. The former rely on wealthy clients, the latter, on the contrary, on people with incomes below the average. Accordingly, the set of services is slightly different. The first category of workshops is focused on the creation of individual clothes - for example, business suits. Profit consists of the implementation of several, but expensive orders. Such a business, as a rule, rests on wealthy and regular customers who go to the studio from year to year. The second category of workshops carries out small orders and earns on their quantity.

The advantages of a studio as a business:

    studio services are in demand in any locality;

    high demand for this type of service, even during a period of economic instability;

    opening an atelier requires minimal investment, which can be repaid in a few months;

    a small studio needs a minimum of equipment and tools. The main thing is a good master.

Many people think that it is very simple to open an atelier: found a room, bought a sewing machine - and you can wait for profit. However, in practice, everything will not be so rosy. Many ateliers burn out and close without ever reaching a payback. For a business to develop successfully, one should take into account many nuances, research the sales market in advance and draw up a studio business plan. Therefore, we consider in detail each stage of the opening of the studio and the features that need to be taken into account.

Who can open an atelier

The seamstress, tailor, cutter can open his own business. Typically, the owners of the atelier are good craftsmen, versed in the intricacies of sewing and knowing the market. This option will be preferred. However, even if you are far from sewing, you can realize yourself in this business as a manager, and entrust all the production work to hired employees. Nevertheless, many note that the studio - especially with the service of individual tailoring - is, first of all, creativity. Therefore, it is impossible here without a soul. To achieve success in this business will help knowledge of the specifics of work and an individual approach to each client.

Market analysis

Before opening an atelier, you need to study the sewing services market in your city. It is important to understand if there is a free niche: you can determine the approximate number of ateliers using services such as Yandex.Maps, Google Maps, 2GIS. Find out the cost of the services of your competitors, the service they offer. In addition, you will need data on population composition in the area and income level to identify your potential customers. The information collected will allow you to assess the prospects of the business and determine what competitive advantages you will have.

The list of atelier services

At the next stage, it is necessary to determine what exactly the atelier will be engaged in and to which contingent its services will be oriented. In addition to individual tailoring, you can also repair, restore or remodel. Depending on the list of services, equipment and staff are determined. For example, if you plan to provide an individual tailoring service, then you need to make certain requirements for a seamstress.

What services can an atelier provide clients:

    hemming, shortening clothes;

    design and tailoring of evening dresses (very often dresses for prom are often demanded);

    repair of old things (replacement of collars, fasteners, etc.).

    replacement of zippers, steaming, repair and manufacturing of pockets, re-buttoning, replacement of a collar or cuff, etc.

    tailoring carnival costumes for children (in demand before New Year's party);

    sewing school costumes;

    sewing copies of famous designers (also in demand, since it is still cheaper than the original);

    sewing curtains;

    urgency of the order (20-50% of the cost of work is added).

It is recommended to start with a clothing repair studio, and then, having developed a client base and gain a foothold in the business, switch to individual tailoring. The cost of opening a clothing repair studio is much lower than sewing clothes.

Having decided on the list of services, make a price list. Find out what prices competitors offer and lower yours a little. At the initial stage, this will attract customers. But be careful with price dumping - do not work at a loss. Set a price that can recoup your costs. To understand the calculations, make a business plan with calculations of expenses and income and analysis of the strengths and weaknesses of the business. In addition, you will definitely need a business plan if you decide to take a loan to open a business.

Atelier registration

How to register a company for sewing and repairing clothes? In order to conduct business, it is necessary to formalize your business. You can choose the form of IP or LLC. The difference is that if you are the only business owner, it should be issued as an individual entrepreneur. This will significantly facilitate accounting and simplify taxation conditions.

To apply for an IP, you will need a passport, a statement on state. registration, receipt of state duty (800 rubles), as well as a copy of the TIN certificate. If you decide to open an atelier with the founder, you will have to register as an LLC. Also, for registration, you will need to specify the appropriate OKVED codes.

The most suitable OKED codes for atelier:

    95.29.1 Repair of clothing and textiles

    52.74 Repair of household goods and personal items not included in other groups

    18.2 Production of clothing from textile materials and clothing accessories

    18.24 Manufacture of other clothing and accessories.

The next step is to obtain all the necessary permits in Rospotrebnadzor and similar state. institutions. About 5,000 rubles will have to be spent on the design of all permits.

SES requirements require the execution of the following documents:

    production control program;

    conclusion of Rospotrebnadzor on compliance of the premises with standards

    permission of Rospotrebnadzor to carry out activities;

    contracts for the removal of waste, hazardous substances, disinfection.

The choice of premises under the studio

The most significant issue in organizing an atelier is finding a suitable room. It is important to choose a convenient location, as the profitability of the business depends on this. According to statistics, studio attendance is 70% dependent on where it is located. More often than not, a person who needs such services simply searches for a nearby atelier or chooses what is “along the way”.

There are two options for placement under the atelier: rental of commercial premises in a shopping center or in a residential area. Each of them has its pros and cons. The table provides a comparison of these options. The choice depends on the target audience and the concept of the studio.

Comparison of premises for rent

The room in the shopping center

Sleeping Area

    large cross;

    it is likely that clothing purchased in the same shopping center will require a fit in size. Then buyers will immediately turn to the studio

    the room is ready for operation, no repair is required

    no need to get a sanitary and fire certificate for your premises

    the studio is within walking distance of the houses. The target audience will be residents of the area;

    rent is cheaper than in the shopping center;

    premises can be redeemed

    expensive rent;

    the studio is forced to work according to the schedule of the shopping center

    the room may need repairs;

    it is necessary to draw up all permits;

    pedestrian traffic is less than in the shopping center. The circle of potential buyers narrows to residents of the sleeping area

Atelier works only in the daytime and does not create a lot of noise, so it can be equipped on the ground floor of a residential building. Such an atelier will work from 9:00 to 19:00. The atelier will have to work on schedule from 10:00 to 22:00 - while the shopping center is open. Renting a room located on the ground floor of an apartment building will cost an average of 12-15 thousand rubles. You will have to pay about 20-25 thousand rubles a month for renting a pavilion in a shopping center.

A good option would be the neighborhood of the atelier with fabric or clothing stores. To increase the influx of customers, you can arrange with the nearest stores, so that the consultants recommend your studio to your customers, if necessary.

Requirements for the studio:

    area not less than 10 sq.m. Optimal - 20 sq.m. The room should not be so small as to cause bouts of claustrophobia among visitors - crowding is associated with the pettiness and frivolity of the company.

    the availability of electricity;

    the room should be divided into at least 3 zones: a reception room with a fitting room, a tailoring and sewing workshop, and sanitary rooms (pantry, toilet, staff room)

    the lighting of the seamstress's work place must comply with special standards that are five times higher than the requirements for residential premises;

    for professional sewing equipment you need a voltage of 380 volts;

    good ventilation;

    light walls that can withstand frequent wet cleaning;

    the absence of surfaces that trap small waste of sewing production.

In order to provide studio services, it is not necessary to rent a separate room. You can open a home business. How to organize atelier work at home? Clothing measurements can be taken from a client at home, and mini-production can be placed in your home. The complexity of this idea lies in finding new customers. It will be necessary to place an advertisement on a site such as Avito, hang a signboard or an advertisement in an elevator, or rely on word of mouth.

Atelier equipment purchase

To work, you need to purchase equipment. An approximate list of equipment is given in the table. The volume of investments required for the purchase of equipment is 70 thousand rubles.

Atelier Equipment

Before purchasing the necessary equipment, you should understand what factors affect its price:

    the country of manufacture;

    atelier equipment functionality;

    the material from which it is made, its quality indicators;

    company (there are little-known companies that demonstrate good quality, but are much cheaper).

In addition to professional equipment, you will need some furniture and lighting fixtures. Furniture should be comfortable, lighting should be bright enough. These are comfortable working conditions.

Atelier recruitment

Most entrepreneurs realize that in this case a lot depends on the level of masters who will work in it. Therefore, you need to pay special attention to the selection of personnel. The best option is experienced people familiar to you who can not only sew beautifully, but also communicate with customers. If there are none, you can hire employees on the recommendation of your colleagues or acquaintances. You can also post information about vacancies on specialized sites. Gaining unfamiliar employees, it is better to establish a trial period for them. Do not forget about the personal qualities of employees. Welcome: honesty, decency, punctuality, politeness, the ability to take into account the wishes of the client. Carefully select candidates, check people on simple orders. As a rule, atelier employees are women: nevertheless, in the atelier women mostly bring things, and the work will be associated with tactile contact).

As for the number of employees, it depends on the direction of the studio and its scope. For a small atelier, it is enough to hire two seamstresses - they will work in shift mode 2 through 2 so that the atelier can function seven days a week. If you plan to provide an individual tailoring service, you will have to hire a cutter. If you increase orders, you will need an administrator who will take orders.

Set piecework or piecework-bonus wages, so that the employee felt responsibility and was interested in the results of his work. Minimum salary - required, especially during the formation of the enterprise. Also provide for a surcharge - a certain percentage of revenue. Do not underestimate the level of salary. Otherwise, professionals will go to competitors. The average salary of a seamstress is 20-23 thousand rubles. This includes salary (16-18 thousand rubles) and a percentage of income (depends on the amount of work performed). Tip: if you initially specify “maintaining cleanliness in the workplace” among the duties among the duties, you can save on a cleaner.

Ready-made ideas for your business

Keep in mind that the problem of so-called “left” orders and financial unscrupulousness of employees is quite common in business ateliers. To protect themselves, the business owner must periodically appear at the workplace or send a mystery shopper. Cleanliness is checked by comparing revenue on the days of the owner’s presence with other days. Of course, if you understand that your time is more expensive than such visits, it is easier to spend money and install video surveillance at the workplace.

How to advertise atelier

The key to success of any business is customers. In order for the studio to pay off and bring a stable profit, it is necessary to actively promote services in the market. You need to start an advertising campaign before opening an atelier.

Atelier promotion methods:

    information on bulletin boards in the workshop area;

    internet ads

    distribution of invitations to mailboxes;

    placing ads in elevators of residential buildings;

    bright sign, banner or sign;

    printing of business cards and leaflets;

    holding various promotions, discounts on sewing certain products, discounts on the first order, etc.

Do not spare money on advertising - be prepared to spend about 30-40 thousand rubles to provide your studio with orders. An active marketing strategy allows you to speed up the payback process of funds invested in opening an atelier.

    Annual net profit: 600,000 rubles.

    Payback: 6-8 months.

No need to expect big profits from the studio, especially in the first months of work. To immediately receive orders, you need to do advertising about a month or two before opening.

What difficulties may the owner of the studio face?

Risk assessment is an important point in a business plan for an atelier. The risks in this area include:

    the acquisition of low-quality equipment;

    lack of personal funds, when interest on the loan is added to ordinary expenses;

    poor quality of services (problems with staff);

    exorbitant increase in rent;

    excess of supply over market demand (too many workshops in the district);
